This is what I can speculate from logical point of view. There can be an 2nd RFE which is basically seeking more clarification on an earlier RFE. These kind of RFE will be pretty much immediate to the preceeding RFE (within 1 -2 months)
After that hopefully there should not be any unrelated RFE with the assumption that IO has taken a complete look at the file before issuing a RFE. We do not want a RFE for BC and when that is replied IO sending another one for Medical or Marriage Certificate. We should reasonably assume that IO has taken a good look at the application before sending RFE.
But we can expect RFE for cases that are current. The reason being most of these cases might be lying with CIS for over 2-3 years before getting current and considering the current state of economy they might issue a RFE for updated EVL to check if the person is still working. That is again just a pure guess no one knows how CIS works in reality

This is not correct. The OP's status is not determined by what he files in the I-9 form. The determining factor is the I-94 form, the latest one that is valid. If the OP got an I-94 attached to his I-797 form (usually one does), then s/he is in H1-B from the day printed on the I-94 form regardless how long does the EAD remain valid.
AFAIK, if the OP wishes to remain on F-1 EAD, s/he can go out of the country before the H1-B I-94 starting date (Oct 1?) and reenter US on F-1 visa (i.e., the I-94 given at the port of entry would be for F-1). I do not know if there is any risk involved, or what would happen to the H1-B approval.

If the company does not object to your approval then you should be fine.
Please try to contact them or thier lawyer. (hopefully the lawyer is still in business :-) )

My company want to book me on flight and comanty sponsored cruise. Cruise leaves on Feb 27th. I am afraid it I will have AP then. Company need some confirmation of getting it as they will lose money.
I called USCIS and placed request to Expedite based on catagory 1 (financial loss to employer or individual). I was told that I will hear somehting in 5 days?
Should I contact local congressman and place request through them? How does the procedure go? I have no clue. I have taken infopass appointment at local USCIS for next week but I know that will be waste of time.
Any suggestions?

For me, it took around 1.5 months to receive the L2 approval notice. I filed online on 11/17/2009, mailed the hard copies of the documents (USPS Priority with delivery confirmation) the same day and received the L2 approval notice on 01/08/2010.
You can do a concurrent filing for EAD (I-765) along with L2 (I-539). You'd probably receive the EAD in another month (Generally it takes around 2 to 3 months).
I did the mistake of not filing for EAD concurrently. I filed for EAD the second week of Jan (after receiving the L2 approval notice), Received the notice for Biometrics appointment in 3 days, scheduled for mid-February. I have been reading posts on here and I think I am more confused than ever now. People are talking about 180 days? 180 days from what and for what? I have a call in to my lawyer but hes hard to reach.... So maybe you guys can clarify for me? I have an approved labor cert w/ priority date of July 06. Sent my app and my husbands app to the NSC on June 27th for our 485 & 765 (the work authorization for both). So what now? I will get a receipt date, then eventually a notice for fingerprints and then my work authorization? And then what - we eventually will get our green card? When does your change in status occur? once you get the green card? or once my 485 is pending? Thank you for your help in advance, Lisa

I ran into the same issue when my wife I-94 was about to expire even though she had valid visa in her passport till 2010. We just crossed over to Canada (through Detroit) and after spending an hour we returned back to US. On our entry, we requested the officer to issue new I-94 since it was expiring. He directed us to the immigration officer who issued a new I-94.
My I-94 has expired becoz it was issued up to my passport validity. If I have to renew it, is it a good option to cross border and get a new I-94, like going to Mexico or Canada. Please advice. I am not sure how to proceed. No one knows the procedure. Please if anyone knows, advice.

I thought of adding that in the poll as I am in a similar situation. The only difference for me is that the attorney is a very big law firm and are EXTREMELY busy. My compnay is not able to do anything either since their involvement in I-485 is negligible.
I am in a bit of a pickle here :(
How about adding "No control as Lawyer will not inform when he will file".
This option may be valid for many users using the Corporate attorney.

I plan to transfer the priority date of an old LC to a new one. My attorney said my case won't work, since the two LCs belong to the same company and the positions (job titles) are the same. She indicates at least one of them needs be different.
I spent a whole night and cannot find any info about this.

@gcformeornot - Thanks for the reply. Its my current employer who has applied for H1 as my L1 is maxing out, so, I am not in a total rush to change employers.

I have no problems starting with a new labor, new I-140, as long as I can retain my old Priority date.
